Human rights in South Asia

What gets measured, gets improved. 

Human Rights Measurement Initiative (HRMI) has been tracking human rights developments in countries worldwide since 2017. HRMI tracks many South Asian countries and is able to provide scores for each country quantifying people’s experiences and how their governments treat them. 

The scores HRMI generates reflect progress in economic and social rights for all South Asian nations, alongside civil and political rights scores for five countries: India, Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka, and the Maldives. All the data for each country is readily accessible on the Rights Tracker.

For the 2024 year, HRMI regional engagement lead for South Asia has published five reports which summarise this years data.
