Jasmine Herlt is a recognised human rights leader committed to improving the lives of people in Canada and globally.
Before retiring earlier this year, Jasmine was the Managing Director of Human Rights Watch (HRW) , where she launched and built the Canadian operations. In that role, she managed the organization’s outreach, fundraising and advocacy initiatives for Canada and had responsibility for guiding global development teams in other countries for almost 20 years.
Prior to joining HRW, Jasmine was the Executive Director of the Canadian Foundation for AIDS Research. She began her career as a lawyer focused on employment law as in-house counsel for Crown Life Insurance and practiced corporate law at McMillan, Binch. She has also served on both corporate and non-profit boards, including St. Michael’s Hospital, Stop 103 and CI Funds Management.
Most recently, Jasmine is an active volunteer and member of the Executive team of the Province of Ontario Liberal Association for the riding of University-Rosedale.
